The Lions Club of Dorchester & District received it's Charter in 1970, and has continued to provided a service to the local community since that date.

Quote from the International President Jimmy Ross -"As Lions we need to first take care of our own community, where our member's live. This is my basic philosophy of our commitment as Lions.  If we do this, we will encourage other community-minded citizens to join our Clubs, and upon meeting local needs, we can expand our outreach on a global humanitarian basis"

We are an asssociate member of the Lions Clubs International, which is the worlds largest and most active service organisation in the world, with a total membership nearing 1.4 million in 191 countries and geographical areas.
