Eye glasses recycling

At the year ending April 2011 at total of 2600 glasses were collected from the supporting opticians of Dorchester.  Whilst this total was slightly down on last year, 2800, it was a great effort.

The toal for the District was 119085, and they will be passed to the Lions calibration centre in France after which they will be sent to those counteries that need glasses for sight correction.

The running total for the District is 2 323 000.

The recyling programme is part of the Lions International committment on Eye Health Care.

FRIEND'S OF THE LIONS CLUB

Over the years the Lions Club has organised many fund-raising events and we recognise that without the support and help of so many non-members and friends, we would not have have been able to have the funds to provide assistance and support to the community.

In order to maintain personal contact with community minded and caring helpers the Lions Club is now forming a group called 'The Friends of The Lions Club of Dorchester and District'.

It is by this arrangement we will able to maintain the contact and inprove communication with our 'friends'.
